DKU Talks «What future for the EU after Covid-19?»

The Kazakh-German University is pleased to invite all to the DKU Talk «What future for the EU after Covid-19?», taking place in online format on Oktober 7 at 4pm (Almaty time).

In connection with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic around the globe, our next DKU Talk will discuss how the European Union countries are fighting the virus, what measures they are taking to fight the virus, what measures are taken to stabilise their economies and what is the future of the European Union after the pandemic.  We will discuss all these issues with experts from Germany, Professor Jacob Lempp and Siebo Janssen.

Prof. Dr. phil. Jakob Lempp is Professor of Political Science at the University of Applied Sciences Rhein-Waal in Kleve and Dean of the Faculty of Society and Economics. He has regular guest lectures at various universities in Germany and abroad (including Austria, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Rwanda). He is a member of the selection committee of the “Academic Foundation of the German people”, scientific advisory of “International Dialogue and Conflict Management” in Vienna, member of the German East Timor Society (DOTG), the German Association for Political Science (DVPW) and the University Teachers Association (hlb), the Working Group for Peace and Conflict Research (AFK) and the Initiative memorial of Eckerwald and Member of editorial and review team of several political scientific journals and accreditation commissions.

Siebo M.H. Janssen is a lecturer at the European University of Applied Sciences in Brühl and at the Academy of International Education in Bonn.  Mr. Janssen has studied political science, modern and recent history, international and European law, as well as the philosophy of state and law at the universities of Cologne, Bonn, Munster and Nijmegen (Netherlands).  He is also advisor to Benelux and the EU for Heinz-Kühn-Bildungswerk in Dortmund and lecturer at the Institute for German Studies at the Ruhr University in Bochum and at the Police Department of the University of Applied Sciences in Economics and Law. Mr. Janssen was an author and member of the KFIBS research groups USA/Transatlantic Relations/NATO and Europe/EU from December 2008 to April 2014, a member of the KFIBS Scientific Advisory Board.

His main research and teaching interests include U.S. foreign policy, transatlantic relations, EU policy, European integration issues, the history of European integration, Benelux political systems, state theory and political science, and political theory and history of ideas. He also reviews the constitutional history of Germany, the Benelux countries and the United States in a comparative perspective, as well as federalism in a comparative perspective and the political systems of Canada, Switzerland, Cyprus and Turkey. Mr. Janssen has published numerous articles on European politics, international relations and the political systems of the Benelux countries, as well as the history of political ideas.

The working language during the event is English.
